13th Annual Health Fair

     The Mississippi County Health Department held its' 13th Annual Health Fair on Friday, October 25, 2002 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.  This was the first day that flu shots were available from the Health Department.  Approximately 428 flu shots were given at the Charleston office and 255 at the East Prairie branch office.

In addition to the flu shots, several other services were offered.  They included cholesterol and blood sugar screeenings by Missouir Delta Medical Center,  blood pressure checks by Visiting Nurse Association, vision by Dr. Felkers office, hearing by Miracle Ear, bone density by Dr. Robbins office, PSA by Community Care Center, and respiratory therapy by Heartland HealthCare.  Health Education was available on physical therapy, arthritis, physical activity, tobacco, and nutrition.
